Ars Nova

An ardent defender of aesthetic pluralism, the project of Ars Nova — the most historic musical formation of its kind in France and in the world — consists of promoting and encouraging musical creation in all its forms.

Over the years, the Ars Nova ensemble has ensured the creation of several masterpieces of the 20th century, such as Des Canyons aux Étoiles by Olivier Messiaen, created by the ensemble in 1975, numerous works by Maurice Ohana, or the international tour of Carmen, adapted by Marius Constant and directed by Peter Brook. Today as yesterday, the ensemble thus participates in the emergence and promotion of some of the greatest talents of our time: composers such as Pascal Dusapin, Betsy Jolas, Régis Campo and many others bear witness to this principle of companionship so dear to this institution.

Guarantor of intergenerational transmission, the Ars Nova ensemble also welcomes a new generation of performers. Accompanied by their elders with a view to continuity, they thus become guarantors of this heritage and actors of prospective artistic work.

Even more than an ensemble, Ars Nova is a part of the history of today's and tomorrow's music.
