Ars Nova

Placed under the musical direction of Jean-Michaël Lavoie and Benoît Sitzia, the Ars Nova ensemble is today considered one of the most ardent defenders of aesthetic pluralism in contemporary musical creation. Composed of 18 talented musicians, it strives to promote meetings and exchanges both between composers and instrumentalists and between artists and audiences, and tirelessly pursues a double objective: to create and transmit.

Through a bold order policy, the Ars Nova ensemble favors close and long-term collaborations with composers of very diverse aesthetics (Georges Aperghis, Luciano Berio, Bernard Cavanna, Pascal Dusapin, Luc Ferrari, Zad Moultaka. ..).

With nearly 40 concerts per year, opera productions and multidisciplinary shows, the ensemble performs in France and abroad, on major national stages and in the main festivals dedicated to contemporary repertoire and creation. Awareness-raising activities and educational workshops are set up around the
shows in order to facilitate the meeting between the public and the works of today.

Ars Nova is in residence in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and in Poitiers, and is associated with the TAP Theater Auditorium in Poitiers. Its activities are subsidized by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the Ministry of Culture and Communication (DRAC de Nouvelle-Aquitaine), the City of Poitiers and receive support from SACEM and SPEDIDAM.
